Every child, regardless of their social status, deserves the best start in life including the right to quality and inclusive education.
Sue Maud, the founder of ‘Authentic Stories’ believes that, “Children are our future and treasure; we should take care of them. It’s important to take good care of the children, especially the less privileged such as orphans who do not have someone to look after them.”
Sue’s strong urge to care for children pushed her to donate school uniforms to children at Mwandaliwa Orphanage Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in East Africa.
According to her, if children are empowered they can be key agents of peace and development.
“I am donating school uniforms to Mwandaliwa Orphanage Center which is located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Through Authentic Stories, I am determined to make orphans at the center smile,” said the CEO.
One of the beneficiaries, Aika, who is a standard one pupil at Mbweni Primary School and is among the children who live at the orphanage, was visibly delighted after receiving the uniforms.
The smiling girl said, “When school reopens, I will be looking very smart in my new school uniforms.”
The desire to have every child, particularly orphans, brought up in a healthy environment and access quality education has drawn Sue much closer to what her heart longed for, which is becoming the Ambassador of Mwandaliwa Orphanage Center.
As the ambassador of the orphanage, Sue will be more engaged in promoting it and raising funds to ensure a conducive living and learning environment for the children.
She also believes that, “God has given us two hands, one to receive with and one to give…He loves a cheerful giver.” This is why the school uniforms donation is not her first as in May 2021 she donated food stuffs to the same orphanage.
After receiving the uniforms, the Chief Executive Officer of Mwandaliwa Orphanage Center, Haj Mahmoud Abdallah Bahulla, acknowledged the support, pointing out that it carried a lot of weight to children.
“When less privileged children get the opportunity to put on new uniforms like other ordinary children, it’s very encouraging…we are indeed grateful for your support.
“You have been very supportive to the Center since this is not the first time. You once donated food, this is why we are requesting you to be our Ambassador,” asked Bahulla.
